Airport

Car rental at Ottawa airport

Ottawa’s airport is south of the centre. Parliament is a drive, not a walk from the gate.

Arrival

The rental starts after the flight.

Ottawa’s airport is a distinct arrival from Pearson or Vancouver. It sits south of downtown. A hotel by the canal is not outside the door.

Winter evenings are dark. Ask how a late flight affects the pickup. If Gatineau is the real address, you have a bridge after the airport drive.

City guides: Ottawa and Gatineau.

Into the city

Leaving the airport is its own drive.

You drive north into the city or, later, across a bridge. The 417 toward Montreal is a different decision from a downtown garage.

A one-way drop in Montreal has to be confirmed with the company. Read the one-way guide first.

Vehicle

Choose for the luggage and the next road.

A compact or midsize car fits most government-city weeks. An SUV fits a winter highway. Do not oversize the car for a short urban contract.

Before you book

Questions worth asking a provider.

Ask whether the car is collected at a terminal desk, in a garage attached to the terminal, or at a lot that needs a shuttle. Ask what happens if the flight is late, whether the pickup window can move, and what documents the driver must show.

Ask how fuel is handled, whether mileage is limited, whether an extra driver can be added, and what the company means by its protection options. Those answers belong to the company you choose. Ebomim does not run a desk at this airport.

Use the airport’s own directions once you are in the building. If the car will not come back here, read one-way car rental before you assume the return is simple. Late flights are discussed in pickup and drop-off, and the licence and insurance questions are on driver requirements and insurance.

Questions

Before you decide

Is the airport downtown?

No.

What should I ask at Ottawa?

Whether the car is at the terminal or a shuttle lot, and what a late flight does to the pickup.

Does this include Gatineau’s streets?

Only as a possible next drive. The city has its own page.

How does Gatineau fit?

It is a bridge after the airport drive, and it has its own city guide.

Note the place and the dates.

The planner records a pickup, a return, and an optional vehicle class. Ebomim does not reserve a car or publish a rate.
