Why a car comes up in Victoria.
Victoria car rental is a smaller search than Vancouver and a different island. People walk the inner neighbourhoods and rent when they want Butchart as a plan, a surf road, or the highway up-island toward Nanaimo.
The airport is north of town, not at the harbour. See Victoria airport. Ferries mean the car you brought from the mainland, or the car you rent here, are choices with schedules this site does not operate.
Season
The year is not one trip.
Summer is tourists and long light. Winter is rain and a darker highway. Neither includes a published Victoria price.

Vehicles
What people usually need here.
Compact or midsize covers most weeks. An SUV helps if the plan is logging-road adjacent or simply loaded with people and bags. Luxury is a harbour-evening idea, not a requirement.
Driving
The roads that decide the vehicle.
Peninsula roads are prettier than they are fast. Downtown parking is the reason not to drive every hour. The Malahat and the road north are the reason to have the car on the day you leave.
Rain is ordinary. A dramatic car is optional. A reliable ordinary car is the point.
